Pupil Premium
What is Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is extra funding from the government to support children from disadvantaged backgrounds. It helps schools close the gap in achievement between these pupils and their peers.
At Whitehouse Primary, we use Free School Meal eligibility as a key indicator and aim to support pupils academically, socially and emotionally.
How We Use the Funding
We recognise that every child is unique and may face different challenges. Our approach focuses on developing the whole child, not just academic progress.
Examples of Support:
- Extra teaching support and small group interventions
- After-school clubs in sport, music, drama and academic subjects
- Educational visits and residentials
- Emotional wellbeing support through our Mental Health Lead (Victoria Gibson)
- Opportunities to raise aspirations through enrichment activities
Building Resilience
We believe resilience is key to long-term success. Many children receiving Pupil Premium benefit from emotional support and guidance. Our Mental Health Lead works closely with families and external agencies to improve attendance, punctuality and wellbeing.
